I was just expecting something else in the end because by the end I felt like I hadn't gotten anything out of it. I have to add that when I say I was expecting a twist that I wasn't expecting some sort of rebellion - I don't know why everyone is assuming that. I like everybody's comments, it's a well written book and the parts I don't like seem intentional. I rarely dislike books and I almost always feel like i "get it" but this one left me clueless. The bizarre nature of the setting is never explained in any sort of satisfying or meaningful way. I kept waiting for some kind of twist to make it interesting or some sort of hint at what exactly is going on and why there are such a thing as donors or carers etc in the first place other than that they just do. Everyone else is way worse.ĭespite the unpredictable emotions and behaviors of the characters, the plot was bland and somehow kind of predictable. The worst part was that she is the most sympathetic character of the story.
I could not stand her, she's exactly the kind of person I find most irritating lol.
It was such an irritating slog as she narrated every minute detail of social interactions and every which way she felt which was wildly unpredictable. It's a mystery how acclaimed this book is.
